ARTIST BIO

Starting my artistic journey in 2000, the desire to create art that I attained soon became an unyielding obligation to myself to explore the inner mechanism of my creative consciousness. From small sketches to large scale projects, my art is a highly-personal reflection of myself.

I’ve been lucky enough to have participated in many collaborative projects, as well as exhibiting in a solo capacity, which has solidified my reputation in the art world. If you would like to find out more about my process, get in touch.

KEVIN'S INSPIRATION

I was raised in an Irish Catholic mid-century household acutely aware of the lack of intimate communication. We didn’t say, "I love you" but were expected to believe we were loved. We didn’t say, "I am angry" but slammed a door instead. And we certainly didn’t touch or hug in any intimate way. This left me searching for the language of intimacy I found missing in my youth.

In my poem The Muse (seen in this exhibit) I explain how I connected and learned from the variety of souls I have encountered along my path. By interpreting the verbal as well as the non-verbal communication between two people I was able to manifest the true language of intimacy that create relationships.

An intimate relationship is one that is specific to two people and no one else. These relationships come in many forms: friend, lover, ex-lover, parent, sibling, etc.  Only the two involved know the true nature of their unique relationship. The verbal and non-verbal communication that create the relationship is secret, that is, only know to them.

I have translated that secret language and transcribed it into the insightful, intense, informative, and sometimes humorous language of poetry. I have opened the door to that secret language so that we may not feel so alone in our own unique intimate relationships and learn insight into what is a healthy relationship and what is not.
